Cross-Docking
Cross-docking is a beneficial process to streamline the supply chain and reduce the costs, from point of origin to point of sale. Our most common arrangement is hub and spoke, where inventory is brought into our warehouse, relabeled, and then reorganized for delivery to a mixture of destinations. We are also capable of handling consolidations and de-consolidations to take advantage of shipping discounts and ensure an overall easier shipping process.
Cross-docking is also often used when handling time sensitive and perishable inventory. Due to the reduced shelf life, inventory needs to reach retailers with a reasonable remaining shelf life. By forgoing storage and utilizing cross-docking delivery time is reduced. This provides the goods with a longer sales window.
